- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 carrot, finely diced
- 1 celery stick, finely diced
- 250g ground beef
- 250g ground pork
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 400g canned crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Spaghetti, cooked al dente
- Parmesan cheese, for garnish
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Method:
- Preparation: Finely chop the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery.
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until translucent. Add carrot and celery, cooking for another 5 minutes.
- Brown the Meat: Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the ground beef and pork, breaking them apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned.
- Deglaze with Wine: Pour in the red wine and simmer until reduced by half.
- Add Tomatoes and Stock: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef stock. Toss in bay leaves and season with salt and pepper.
