  • 1 carrot, finely diced
  • 1 celery stick, finely diced
  • 250g ground beef
  • 250g ground pork
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 400g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Spaghetti, cooked al dente
  • Parmesan cheese, for garnish

Method:

  1. Preparation: Finely chop the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until translucent. Add carrot and celery, cooking for another 5 minutes.

  4. Deglaze with Wine: Pour in the red wine and simmer until reduced by half.
  5. Add Tomatoes and Stock: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef stock. Toss in bay leaves and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Simmer: Lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Cover partially and let the sauce cook for 1.5-2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  7. Finish with Milk: Stir in the milk during the last 15 minutes for a creamy texture.
  8. Serve: Remove bay leaves. Serve the sauce over freshly cooked spaghetti, topped with grated Parmesan and fresh basil.
